U Mobile Sdn Bhd has announced that it will not seek government support or local partners to launch its second 5G network.
Chairman Vincent Tan is confident that the company can manage the project independently.
Tan dismissed analysts' concerns that U Mobile may face challenges, saying that the company has secured sufficient bank financing and has the expertise to succeed.
The network is expected to be completed in 15 to 18 months.
U Mobile is considering partnering with Chinese tech giants Huawei and ZTE for 5G equipment and financing.
However, a final decision on the investment is still pending.
Some analysts believe that U Mobile may need to partner with industry leaders such as Maxis or CelcomDigi to address potential issues.
While Tan did not rule out partnerships, he remained confident in the company's ability to move forward independently.
