Wall Street opened the new year on a gloomy note after the weak movement continued.
On Thursday, the market started strong at the market opening but began to weaken as the market closed with the Dow Jones index down 0.36%, the S&P 500 down 0.22%, and the Nasdaq Composite down 0.16%.
Tesla shares fell 6.1% after Tesla's annual car delivery report was weaker than expected and the Cybertruck explosion in Las Vegas.
Apple shares also fell 2.6% as their product sales in China were not well received.
In contrast, NVIDIA shares and Meta platform where both stocks jumped by 3% and 2.3%.
Despite the uncertain performance of stock indexes, investors also paid attention to the US manufacturing index report (ISM) and statements from federal reserve officials (Fed).
