US Wall Street remained quiet on Monday as investors awaited important economic data that could impact the market this week.
Last week, major stock indexes posted solid gains with the Dow rising 0.8%, the S&P 500 rising 1.26%, and the Nasdaq surging 1.77%.
Technology stocks led the gains, with big gains from Tesla, Nvidia, MicroStrategy, Palantir Technologies and AMD.
The main focus this week is the US NFP jobs report for December on Friday, which will provide a glimpse into the health of the job market ahead of the next Federal Reserve (Fed) meeting.
Before that, investors will analyze the JOLTS job openings report on Tuesday and the ADP private employment data on Wednesday.
These reports help gauge how strong or weak the labor market is, which could impact the Fed's future decision on interest rates.
In addition, major earnings reports are expected from Constellation Brands, Walgreens Boots Alliance and Delta Air Lines.
The market will be closed on Thursday in memory of former President Jimmy Carter.
