As investors turn their attention to the US consumer price index data due today, US stocks are seen rising.

US consumer price index (CPI) data is the focus of investors as this data will provide information on inflation that the Federal Reserve (Fed) will use to set interest rates.

On Tuesday, the Dow Jones rose by 0.52%, the S&P 500 rose by 0.11% while the Nasdaq fell by 0.23%.

This was the effect of the weak producer price index (PPI) and also weakened the US dollar and Treasury yields.

BlackRock, JPMorgan Chase, Citigroup, Goldman Sachs, and Wells Fargo are scheduled to release their fourth-quarter results.

Earnings reports from these companies will provide an indication of the health of the broader financial and economic sectors.

Seven of the 11 sectors in the S&P 500 closed in profit yesterday, with utilities, financials and materials performing well, while technology and healthcare stocks lagged.
