DeepSeek, a Chinese AI company, is facing challenges after private companies and government agencies blocked access to its AI platform.

The move was made due to poor guidance on data leaks and privacy.

Armis Inc, a cybersecurity company, reported that 70% of their customers have requested to block access to DeepSeek, most of which are from critical industries, while Netskope Inc reported that more than half of their customers have also blocked access to DeepSeek.

The concerns stem from DeepSeek’s privacy policy that stores their user data in China, which requires them to comply with Chinese government regulations.

DeepSeek also collects sensitive user data such as audio, notes, uploaded files and feedback that are feared to be shared with authorities.

Italy’s privacy watchdog has already banned the platform, while other regulators in the UK and Ireland are investigating how DeepSeek handles their user data.

Cybersecurity experts have also identified weaknesses in the platform's systems, indicating that there is a possibility that hackers could exploit DeepSeek's advantages to commit crimes.
