Elon Musk’s mission to shrink the US government is getting more chaotic as federal employees refuse to bow to threats of layoffs.
Musk’s initiative, called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), has already led to the dismissal of 20,000 workers, but his latest email has caused confusion – forcing federal employees to justify their work by summarizing the tasks they perform.
However, government agencies objected and refused to respond to the email, with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) determining that the email was voluntary, while Trump blithely called the action a ‘genius idea’.
Some agencies encouraged employees to respond, while others warned them to write as if there were ‘spies’ watching.
Meanwhile, Musk showed up at a conservative event with a chainsaw in hand, as if ready to ‘clean up’ the government, smilingly enjoying the chaos.
