Trump warned that the absence of gold at Fort Knox is not just bad news but will be a scandal that could spark public anger.
Elon Musk, who is known for being a conspiracy theorist, continued to heat up the atmosphere on X with the question - "Who can confirm that the gold was not stolen?"
This post got even hotter when many X users urged the government to broadcast a live gold audit.
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, however, tried to calm the situation by explaining that the audit is done every year and "all the gold is there and recorded".
