Proton recorded a decline in its car sales at the start of 2025 with 23% less in January compared to the same month last year.

The decline was due to many people buying cars in December and fewer people buying cars during Chinese New Year.

However, Proton shares rose from 18.7% to 19.7%.

Proton’s new electric car, the e.MAS 7, became Malaysia’s best-selling EV in its first month recording 25% of total EV sales, with 421 cars delivered and over 4,000 people placing orders.

Due to this strong demand, Proton added another 3,000 cars.

Proton also recorded a good performance in exports, sending 86.9% more cars overseas.

The Saga was the most popular, followed by the X50 and S70.

Proton expects a slow start to 2025 but hopes to sell more cars this year.
