The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is expected to pay a dividend of over 5.8% for conventional savings, a slight increase from 5.5% in 2023.

For sharia-compliant savings, the rate is likely to be between 5.4% and 5.6%, higher than the 5.4% paid two years ago.

A source shared that this could be the highest dividend in three years, with the final announcement expected in early March.

The dividend paid by the EPF is based on “realised return”, which is the profit from investments that have been sold.

In 2023, the EPF paid RM50.33 billion for conventional accounts and RM7.48 billion for sharia savings.

There are over 8.5 million active contributors. The EPF earned RM57.57 billion in investment income in the first nine months of 2024, showing a 20% increase from the same period in 2023.
