The government allocated nearly RM2 billion for federal road maintenance works last year.
According to Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, this allocation covers 11 states, which is 79.45% of the total budget.
Meanwhile, Sabah received 13.23%, Sarawak 6.378%, and Labuan 0.95%.
This funding supports routine maintenance, repairs, bridge maintenance, and the operation of street lights and traffic signals.
Federal roads in Sabah received an allocation of RM317.973 million, with several roads being integrated into the Pan Borneo Highway project.
Sabah has received RM224.035 million in 2023, and RM251.43 million has been allocated for 2025.
He also stressed that his ministry does not maintain state roads as they are under the authority of the state government which receives allocations from the Malaysian Road Records Information System (Marris).
