Not content with halting the use of dollars in trade with India, Indonesia yesterday surprised Trump again by ordering PT MNC Land to halt development of its massive tourism project in Lido.
The project, which includes a luxury golf course and resort, was a collaboration linked to Donald Trump and was halted over serious environmental issues.
The decision was announced by the country's Environment Ministry, citing poor water management at the site, which caused Lake Lido to shrink by half, as well as failure to comply with an approved environmental plan.
However, the $1.7 billion project under the Trump Organization can still resume if an amended environmental assessment is submitted.
The postponement is a major setback for MNC Land, which is backed by tycoon Hary Tanoesoedibjo.
