Malaysia Airlines Flight Cancellation Rate Soars in 2024!

Malaysia Airlines experienced a sharp increase in flight cancellations last year, with the number increasing from 3,612 in 2023 to 8,319 in 2024, a 130% jump.


According to Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook, the airline saw a slight decrease in flight delays, down 3% from 7,557 in 2023 to 7,330 in 2024.


In contrast, AirAsia reported fewer cancellations, down 23% from 39,884 in 2023 to 30,840 in 2024.


The airline also reduced delayed flights by 7%, bringing the number down from 20,274 to 18,825.


Malaysia Airlines recorded a high increase in complaints, rising from 375 in 2023 to 410 in 2024.


Meanwhile, AirAsia saw a significant decrease of 43%, with the number of complaints falling from 994 to 569.


Domestic flight prices, on the other hand, increased from RM220 to RM227, while tickets for Asean flights dropped to RM358 from RM360, while international ticket prices dropped by 9% due to the increase in available flights.
