The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme continues to attract foreign applicants, with 58,468 approvals recorded by the end of 2024.

MM2H is a programme promoted by the Malaysian government to allow foreigners who meet certain criteria to settle in Malaysia as their second home of choice.

With 28,528 main applicants and 29,940 dependents, the country remains a popular destination for long-term residents.

A total of 782 approvals were obtained from the newly revised MM2H scheme, which introduces different categories namely Platinum, Gold and Silver, along with special sections for Special Economic Zones (SEZ) and Special Financial Zones (SFZ).

Each category has its own requirements, mainly focusing on property investments.

The government made changes to the MM2H programme in June, making it easier to qualify by lowering financial requirements, but they are required to purchase property in Malaysia.

The government managed to raise RM233.8 million from fixed deposits and RM222 million from property sales as a result of the changes.

With flexible regulations and more options, MM2H remains an attractive option for foreigners looking to settle in Malaysia.
