Malaysia’s Foreign Investment in 2024 Reaches RM254.7 Billion

Malaysia continues to attract investors, with total foreign investment approved reaching RM254.7 billion in the first nine months of 2024.


This investment spans different industries and is expected to bring in 159,347 new job opportunities nationwide.


Compared to the same period in 2023, the figure for approved investments increased by 10.7% to RM230.2 billion.


The services sector led the way with RM160.7 billion, making up 63.1% of the total, covering 3,909 projects.


The manufacturing sector secured RM88.8 billion from 800 projects, while the primary sector attracted RM5.2 billion from 44 projects.


Of the total approved investments, RM106.7 billion came from foreign investors, while domestic investors contributed RM148 billion.


Full-year figures for 2024 will be released by Mida at the end of February 2025.


The government remains confident in maintaining strong investment momentum by improving policies to attract more investors.
