Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol has announced that it will reduce its corporate and administrative workforce by 1,100 positions, but not baristas.
Starbucks' total workforce has reached 361,000 people, with 16,000 working in administrative and support roles.
The reduction in employees is aimed at improving efficiency and increasing sales.
The reduction has had a positive impact on Starbucks shares, with the company's shares rising by 1.6%.
Brian Niccol took over as CEO of Starbucks in September 2024 when the company was facing low sales problems and is now trying to make changes to the coffee chain.
Among them is that he wants to implement faster service and a personal touch from baristas by writing short notes to customers.
At the same time, menus that are not popular with many will also be removed from the Starbucks menu.
