US President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order to transform the US healthcare industry by forcing hospitals and insurance companies to disclose the actual prices and not just vague estimates of each provision they will allocate.
The move was made to strengthen transparency rules introduced in 2019 but, so far, only 14% of hospitals have complied with the rules.
This time, Trump is not kidding – federal agencies are being ordered to act tough!
The rule was issued after health activist Cynthia Fisher questioned why patients should pay $3,000 for an MRI when it can be obtained for $300.
However, insurance companies and hospitals claim that this policy could lead to further cost increases.
