President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to block the International Criminal Court (ICC) over its baseless accusations targeting the United States and Israel.
The sanctions include imposing financial and visa sanctions on officials and their families involved in the ICC’s investigation of the two countries.
Trump signed the move while Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was visiting Washington.
In November, the ICC issued an arrest warrant for Netanyahu on charges of war crimes in Gaza and also issued a warrant for a Hamas commander.
However, the Netherlands-based court said it regretted Donald Trump’s action.
Dutch Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp said the court’s work is essential in combating major crimes.
The memo, just released by the White House, accused the ICC of fomenting shameful injustice between Hamas and Israel.
Donald Trump said the ICC’s “reckless” action would endanger the American people and the critical foreign policy work of the two allies.
