Ukraine Agrees to ‘Pledge’ Mineral Resources to America?

Ukraine has agreed to allocate its mineral resources to the United States (US), but in return Ukraine asked the US to provide security guarantees to the country.

However, it is still not certain whether the demand has been met.

This is due to Trump demanding repayment for military assistance that the US has provided during the war.

Zelenskiy stressed that the agreement does not involve any debt that Ukraine will incur.

According to Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal, the US will support Ukraine’s efforts to obtain security guarantees but is not committed to military protection or defense guarantees as part of the agreement.

Ukraine will contribute 50% of future revenues from state-owned mineral assets to a fund jointly controlled between Ukraine and the US.

Zelenskiy is reported to be in Washington on Friday to sign the agreement.
