US President Donald Trump on Wednesday was quick to point the finger at Joe Biden after January inflation rose higher than expected, with the annual consumer price index (CPI) reading rising 3.0%.
Trump has accused Biden of causing inflation with the statement “BIDEN INFLATION IS UP!” via his Truth Social account.
Despite the continued surge in inflation, Trump has insisted on his aggressive 25% tariff policy on steel and aluminum, including from Canada and Mexico, which could push costs even higher.
This action has raised concerns from the Federal Reserve (Fed) with its Chairman Jerome Powell warning that inflation is still “close, but not there yet”.
With the prices of oil, eggs, and essential goods continuing to rise, Trump is now facing pressure from critics and his own campaign promises.
Could the Trump administration produce a major ‘plotwist’ like the ‘America First’ policy that has finally turned into ‘America Last’?
