China has accused Taiwan of trying to sell its semiconductor industry to the United States in exchange for political support.
A Chinese official, Zhu Fenglian, claimed that the Taiwanese government is using its chip industry to further strengthen ties with Washington.
There have been reports that Taiwan's leading chipmaker, TSMC, is in talks to invest in Intel.
However, the two companies have not confirmed this news, and the Taiwanese government has said it has not received any investment requests from TSMC.
China has warned that TSMC could become the "United States Semiconductor Manufacturing Co." and accused Taiwan of "selling" its business.
However, the Taiwanese government has denied the accusations, insisting that TSMC is an important company for Taiwan and will continue to be a key entity in the semiconductor technology industry.
