With treatment costs getting crazy, insurance getting more expensive, and the people continuing to be burdened, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has now promised to 'attack' medical inflation with aggressive measures!
This measure includes implementing the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) system - a mechanism that organizes treatment fees according to disease categories to increase cost transparency.
However, DRG is not a 'magic bullet' to completely solve this problem.
The MOH also plans to make it mandatory to display drug prices to ensure that insurance companies can assess treatment costs more accurately.
However, the move was strongly opposed by the Malaysian Private Medical Practitioners Association (FPMPAM) because it was worried that it would confuse patients.
In addition, the MOH also explained that they do not control the charges of private medical facilities, including the costs of medical equipment, nursing services, and laboratory tests.
Although consultation charges have a maximum limit, other charges depend on the respective hospitals.
Can DRG really reduce the price of treatment, or can the people just 'put up' with the increasingly crazy increase in medical costs?
