Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney has expressed his willingness to hold talks with the White House following President Donald Trump's plans to impose new tariffs on imported cars.

He confirmed that his officials are in contact with representatives from the United States (US) about potential tariff concerns.

Trump's new tariffs on imported cars are expected to have a negative impact on Canada, especially on the manufacturing sector, as the cost of manufacturing cars from the country is higher, leading to lower sales.

This will also affect jobs, putting many people at risk of losing their jobs and leading to a slowing economy.

Carney also reiterated his stance against Trump's proposal to make Canada part of the US.

However, Canada has introduced financial assistance for businesses and workers affected by the ongoing tariff problems.

Canada has imposed retaliatory tariffs on C$60 billion of goods from the US and is ready to add C$95 billion in tariffs if Trump's plans against Canada go ahead.
