Starting March 24, 2025, the Madani government announced that it will distribute RM1.7 billion through the second phase of the Cash Contribution of Mercy (STR), up from RM1.5 billion last year.
This assistance will benefit 8.5 million people – equivalent to 60% of Malaysia's adult population!
With Aidilfitri approaching, up to RM650 for each recipient will definitely help reduce the burden of expenses.
According to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Minister of Finance, the increase in the allocation for STR and Basic Contribution of Mercy (SARA) to RM13 billion this year proves the government's commitment in helping the people cope with the rising cost of living.
Payments will be credited directly to the recipient's bank account or can be claimed in cash at Bank Simpanan Nasional.
The good news is that STR registration is now open all year round!
The government is calling on the public to check their names and immediately register at bantuntunai.hasil.gov.my for eligibility checks.
