The government has agreed to provide a 50 percent discount on festive season toll rates in conjunction with Aidilfitri.
Minister of Works, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said the discount will take effect at 12.01 midnight on March 28 and end at 11.59 pm, March 29.
He said that the MADANI Government initiative will involve financial implications amounting to RM19.69 million as compensation to the toll concession companies involved.
He further said that this toll discount will only be given to Class 1 private vehicles at all toll plazas except for the national border toll plazas, namely the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll (BSI) North-South Expressway (PLUS) and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza, Malaysia-Singapore Second Route Expressway (LINKEDUA).
The provision of this toll discount is a continuation of the festive season toll assistance provided by the government for the four major festivals in the country since 2023, in line with the main thrust of the MADANI Government, namely Wellbeing and Kindness in helping to ease the cost of living of the people.
Alexander said that all highway users are expected to make the most of the toll discount and plan their journeys to avoid congestion on the highways, especially during the long holidays of this festive season.
Therefore, he said, he advised highway users to plan their journeys and review several movement guidelines before starting their journey.
