Microsoft will launch the ‘Malaysia West Cloud Region’ which will be opened in Kuala Lumpur where this project is expected to generate up to US$10.9 billion (RM48.3 billion) and will create 37,575 job opportunities by 2028.
The opening of the Cloud Region, which is expected in the second half of 2025, will allow Microsoft to relaunch their operations especially during critical times, such as during disruptions or very bad weather.
At the same time, the Cloud Region will also be connected to Microsoft’s global network to ensure faster services.
With the presence of this cloud region, the Managing Director of Microsoft Malaysia believes that it can help accelerate the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Malaysia.
Microsoft previously invested US$2.2 billion in May 2024 in the development of AI and cloud.
