Funds or be stopped – Felda has only one month to prove its worth!
In a breaking fast ceremony with Felda’s highest committee, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stressed that the government will not continue to inject nearly RM1 billion a year if the agency fails to come up with a plan that can save Felda and the settlers.
Even more so, the funds are not a temporary threat but depend on Felda’s performance.
He stressed that the institution can no longer remain in its ‘comfort zone’ and must immediately make drastic changes to ensure the future survival of the settlers.
Anwar assured that if the new plan meets the conditions, the entire government machinery, including the Ministry of Finance and industry experts, will be mobilized to ensure changes that truly bring impact – not just promises on paper.
In addition, Anwar also outlined the need for a parallel direction between Felda, cooperatives, and FGV to ensure more sustainable growth and no longer rely entirely on government injections.
Amidst global uncertainty, continued reliance on government funds is no longer an option.
Without a solid plan, Felda stands to lose everything. RM1 billion will no longer be available to collect!
