The European Union (EU) has given Nokia the green light without any conditions to take over US network equipment and optical semiconductor company Infinera in a deal worth $2.3 billion.
The deal makes Nokia the second largest player in the global optical networking market with a 20% stake, behind only Chinese giant Huawei.
This decision gives Nokia various major advantages in supplying equipment to giant technology companies such as Amazon, Google and Microsoft, which are now actively investing in data centers to support the surge in AI.
With Huawei's dominance and Nokia's increasingly strong presence, the semiconductor market is set to become an even more fierce battleground!
