Ontario ‘Turns Off’ America’s Switch – Imposes 25% Surcharge in Trade War

Ontario is stepping up the heat in the US-Canada trade war by imposing a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to the US.

The move, in response to Trump’s aggressive tariffs and set to affect 1.5 million homes in New York, Michigan and Minnesota – is burning Americans’ pockets with crippling bill hikes.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford has called Trump’s tariffs “a disaster for the US economy”, vowing that Ontario will not bow down.

The extra revenue from the surcharge?

It will go directly to Canadian workers and businesses hurt by US trade policies.

Meanwhile, investors are panicking, financial markets are reeling.

The S&P 500 is down, and Trump, who previously boasted about the US economy, is now admitting that the tariffs could trigger a “transition period”.

In simple terms? The risk of a recession is growing.

Who will bow down first, Trump or Canada? Or will it be the American people who will ultimately pay the true price?
