China issued a statement on Monday that it will warn of retaliation against countries that cooperate with the US to isolate Beijing's interests as the trade war between the world's two largest economies rages.
The warning comes as Donald Trump's administration reportedly plans to use tariff negotiations on US partners to 'boycott' trade deals with China.
This month, Trump temporarily suspended major tariff increases on other countries for 90 days, while duties were increased again on goods from China to 145%.
China's Ministry of Commerce said it firmly opposes any party reaching such an agreement at the expense of China's interests. If it does, China will not accept it and will take strong countermeasures.
The ministry warned of the risks to all countries once international trade returns to the rule of law dominated by major powers.
The statement also aims to show China's willingness to cooperate with all parties and uphold the principles of justice and international law.
At the same time, China described the US action as a form of tariff abuse and unilateral bullying.
Meanwhile, market analysts do not expect the US and China to hold talks anytime soon despite Trump opening up offers to any country in the next three to four weeks.
