Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced the extension of the Visa Liberalisation Plan (PLV) for Chinese tourists for five years to stimulate the country's economic growth.

The PLV extension was sealed through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to Malaysia involving various strategic collaborations.

The visa exemption agreement for public affairs passport holders was signed by Saifuddin and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

The PLV aims to increase national income by improving existing immigration facilities to facilitate the entry of tourists into Malaysia, especially from Southeast Asia, Europe, the Middle East and West Asia.

Saifuddin Nasution announced that the PLV is able to boost the entry of tourists from China to generate a balance in the country's economy.

According to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Chinese tourists who came to visit Malaysia have spent RM7,000 to explore the entire country.

In April, the number of Chinese people entering Malaysia recorded almost 900,000 tourists compared to four million last year.
