Honda Canada has no plans to move car production from Canada and Mexico to the United States (US).

This is being done to avoid US President Donald Trump's potentially devastating trade tariffs.

Honda Canada has confirmed that no changes are currently being considered.

However, the Nikkei newspaper reported that Honda intends to consider shifting some Mexican and Canadian car production to the US.

With this assessment, Honda will retaliate against the US tariffs on new cars by targeting sales of 90%.

Meanwhile, Japan's second-largest automaker plans to increase car production in the US by 30% in 2 or 3 years in response to the 25% levy on foreign vehicles.

However, Honda will not change production in Mexico even though it plans to make a new Civic hybrid in the US to avoid Trump's tariffs.

In short, Honda is considering hiring more US workers. This move will allow Honda to switch from two shifts to three and continue operations until the weekend.
