The tariff trade war between two world powers, China and the United States (US), is expanding to affect almost all countries including Malaysia.

This situation has been taken into account by Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who stressed the need to protect the country from the grip of the US economic war.

He is determined to maintain good relations between the two countries and forbids any party from putting great pressure on Malaysia.

Furthermore, good relations between Malaysia and China are strengthened for the benefit of the people, the economy and the integrity of the country.

Meanwhile, Malaysia and the US remain united in working together as global trading partners, especially in semiconductor exports with 60 percent going to the US.

Anwar believes that the presence of Chinese President Xi Jinping in Malaysia has never been considered a pressure because this country is seen as equal to the Republic of China.

In addition, Anwar also said that over the past two years, Malaysia's trade and investment relations with China have been increasing, especially covering aspects of education, investment, culture, tourism as well as technology and industrial projects that benefit the country and the people.

Therefore, every country needs to strengthen friendship with other countries, especially between ASEAN and Asian countries, by safeguarding their personal interests.
