Paul Atkins officially took office as the 34th Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and pledged to refine every crypto law in the country.

He is known as a prominent advocate of crypto digital assets and his return to lead the SEC has sparked excitement in the community.

Atkins, who served as SEC Commissioner from 2002 to 2008, was renominated by President Trump in January.

After some delays due to final paperwork and the Easter holiday, he was finally sworn in after receiving Senate confirmation.

In his speech, he expressed his gratitude for the trust and confidence President Donald Trump has placed in him to lead the SEC.

With over 20 years of experience in capital markets, he aims to ensure fair and efficient markets with strong investor protections.

Crypto asset advocates are hoping that Atkins will quickly expedite the implementation of long-awaited digital asset regulations.

He is expected to attend the SEC’s third crypto policy roundtable, where key issues such as the custody of crypto assets will be discussed with key firms.

Atkins joins the SEC as the agency’s lawsuit against Ripple nears its final stages, with XRP supporters pushing for a speedy resolution.

Interestingly, Atkins holds nearly $6 million in digital assets, underscoring his strong ties to the industry.
