Following the tariffs of United States (US), President Donald Trump, which are increasingly prevalent in the global market, the prices of Apple's iPhones are expected to soar even higher.

According to the Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, if a 145% tariff is imposed, the price of an iPhone could increase from US$549.73 (RM2,424) to US$1,400 (RM6,174).

He also informed that the components for manufacturing the iPhone are imported from all over the world including chips from Taiwan, batteries from China, screens from South Korea, memory from the US and cameras from various other countries.

If the iPhone is manufactured by the US, the price will reach US$3,500 (RM16,000).

In addition, the US may raise tariffs again after the announcement of exemptions for technology products such as smartphones and computers is made.

International media also reported that iPhone prices are predicted to jump between 30 and 43 percent following the US trade tariffs.

This situation stems from the Trump administration's action to impose a 145% tariff on Chinese goods to the US in response to China's resistance.

Overall, Apple faces difficulty in covering its overall business operating costs and obstacles in shipping products to customers if the tariffs continue.
