This week, United States (US) President Donald Trump will announce tariffs on imported semiconductors that will involve relaxations for some companies in the sector.

The implementation of these tariffs was announced to reset trade in the semiconductor sector.

Next, by imposing tariffs on imported semiconductors, especially from countries like China, it is said that it can protect local chip manufacturers from unfair price competition.

However, Trump also refused to confirm whether electronic products such as mobile phones will be exempted from these tariffs, instead stating that 'you have to show flexibility'.

According to Trump's Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, technology products from China will be subject to new tariffs as part of the Trump administration's aggressive trade approach.

Trump will enact special tariffs targeting electronics products within a month, in addition to semiconductors and pharmaceuticals.

In response to the US, China announced that it would increase tariffs on US products by 125%, thus increasing tensions in the trade war between the two superpowers.

Billionaire founder and prominent investor Ray Dalio expressed concerns about the move, stating that the US economy would suffer a downturn due to excessive inflationary measures.
