Many feel that Trump is too extreme in every action he takes when facing non-American countries.
Tett! Wrong answer!
Trump and his politics will never be soft even if his victims are American universities themselves.
Today America witnessed the Trump administration freezing more than $2.2 billion in funding from elite universities such as Harvard, Columbia, Princeton, Stanford and Northwestern.
The main reason?
These universities refused to submit to controversial conditions including eliminating the DEI (diversity, equity & inclusivity) program, banning masks during protests and changing student admissions policies.
Harvard was the first university to strongly resist, stating that they would not give up their academic freedom.
Columbia, on the other hand, insisted that it would not be anyone's political tool while Stanford, Princeton and other universities also supported this stance, while defending the right to freely determine what is taught, who is taught and who teaches.
Trump warned that anyone who violated Title VI would be ineligible for public funding, but universities opposed it on the grounds that it violated the Constitution and academic freedom.
The irony?
The slogan “America First” now sounds funny, as Americans themselves begin to feel the pain in various sectors — including education.
